Here are the Highlights from the Weekly School Messenger Call for the Week of May 19th!
This is the last Sunday Night Call of the 2023-2024. I know you will miss the phone ringing at 6:30PM each Sunday, as well as the emails and text messages. Don’t worry, if you are returning next year, they will begin soon enough! If you are graduating from JWMHS, congratulations, but deep down we know you will miss them.

We hope that you will continue to come to school each day, be on time, and do your work. Now is not the time to slack off! Commit to EXCELLENCE and finish #MustangSTRONG!
Have a Safe and Happy Summer!
We are as excited as you are for the summer to begin! We hope that you will all have a safe and happy summer! If you have Summer School (ESY), please make sure that you are in attendance and that you complete your credits. If you are taking classes online, please make sure that you stay on track and complete them prior to the end of the summer. Again, have a great summer!
End of the Year Reminders
Please make sure that you are turning in any materials and textbooks by the end of the school year to avoid being on the debt list.
If you have a locker in PE or the hallways, please make sure that you are cleaning it out this week.
If you have any athletic uniforms or owe anything for a team or the band, please make sure that you have turned this in prior to the end of the school year!
Also, beginning tomorrow, students will NOT be allowed to bring backpacks or large bags and purses to school. This is a safety measure that we follow every year and is done throughout the district. During the last week of school, please only bring items that you will need in order to successfully take exams and state tests, such as pencils, pens, calculators, notebooks, and paper. Do not bring items that would cause a disruption.
End of the Year & Testing
We are in school until Friday, May 24th and we have testing scheduled throughout the month of May that cannot be rescheduled. We will NOT allow any EOCs, District Finals, or Classroom Exams to be taken early. If a student misses an EOC, he or she can make it up in the summer or in the fall. If a student misses a District or Classroom Final, the student will either earn a zero on the exam or final or will need to take it on the make-up day, May 24th. Please visit our website in the coming week to view the calendar of testing. Below is a listing of the tests being taken and the windows:
Algebra EOC: May 16th to May 22nd
Geometry EOC: May 22nd to May 23rd
District Finals & Classroom Finals: May 17th to May 22nd
Make Up Day: May 24th

Congratulations to #MustangTrack State qualifiers! Jennie Mularky placed 6th in Javelin and Emanuel Beacham placed 4th in High Jump! Both are All-State Track Team members! EJ Ellison placed 11th in High Jump and Brenton Lovely placed 15th in Triple Jump. We are so proud of you!
We are so proud of our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders that have been taking FAST and EOC tests so far. We have been able to improve our proficiency and the number of students earning Level 3 or above in English/Reading, Algebra, Biology, and US History. Algebra 1 testing is almost complete and Geometry will begin this week!
Best wishes to our Geometry students who are taking their Geometry EOC. Do your best and strive for the 5!
Good luck to our Algebra students taking the Algebra EOC this week! This one counts for graduation so strive for the Level 5!
District Finals continue through the end of this week! Good luck!
Make up exams are Friday, May 24th. However, if you have missed an EOC, please email Dr. Herny so that you can schedule the time to come in this week! We need all students to take the tests that they are assigned to take!

Senior Information for the Class of 2024
Are you the parent or guardian of a Mustang in the Class of 2024? Then this website is for you! Please check out our Graduation Information website at http://tinyurl.com/JWMHS2024! We will continue to update this website as more information comes available to us!
Graduation Fees for the Class of 2024
Seniors, if you have not paid your Graduation Fee of $100, please go to Rycor and pay for these fees now. If you have any other fees or debts that need to be paid, now is the time to do so. All debts and fees will need to be taken care of prior to students receiving their caps and gowns.
Senior Breakfast
Senior Breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at Spartan Manor at 9AM. This event is for seniors only. There is a dress code that includes business and dress attire. No shorts or jeans will be allowed.
Senior Graduation Practice and Checkout
Senior Graduation Practice and Checkout will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd and Friday, May 24th at 8:25AM in the gymnasium and will last until 2PM each day. Students should be prepared to stay the entire time. We have announced this throughout the year and reminded students and parents that these two days are MANDATORY to walk in the 2024 Graduation Ceremony on June 4th. Do not schedule doctor appointments, work, cruises, trips, vacations, or any other event. We are in school until May 24th and these are required days for seniors.
Senior Caps and Gowns
Seniors will receive their caps and gowns on Friday, May 24th at Senior Graduation Practice and Checkout as long as all debts have been paid and students have met all graduation requirements to participate in the 2024 Graduation Ceremony on June 4th.
CLASS OF 2025
Juniors to Senior Picnic
The Junior to Senior Picnic will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at 1PM. Come ready to enjoy a great time with your classmates as you get ready to rule the school!
Class of 2025 Senior Picnic Shirts
Class of 2025 Senior Picnic Shirts are $10 each and can be purchased this week in Room 111 in the Main Office with Nurse Jane! There are limited supplies and sizes, but you will be able to pick up your shirt on Wednesday. Make sure you wear it on Thursday to the Picnic!
Behavior Expectations
We expect that students will act appropriately throughout the remainder of the school year. If you cannot, we will be enforcing our Student Code of Conduct and will not tolerate behavior that is disruptive to the learning and testing environments. Please do not do anything that will jeopardize your standing as we go into the summer or next year.
Kindness
As we continue through the end of the year, I hope that we can commit to excellence and kindness, including avoiding hate speech and hateful acts. There is no place at JWMHS for words and actions that are hateful and bigoted. Each of us is unique and has something to offer our Mustang community. Hopefully, as we are kind, we can see that our differences bring us together and make us stronger. Again, please be kind to each other.

Reminders and Announcements
Mustang Athletics
Tickets for all games can be purchased on GoFan.co and we encourage you to make sure that you familiarize yourself with that website. (https://gofan.co/app/school/FL5921).
Free Lunch and Breakfast
All students will be receiving free breakfast and lunch this year. You do not need to apply for Free or Reduced Lunch. Breakfast will be served each morning until 8:20AM when the warning bell will sound. If you need to put money on your lunch account, you can do so at this time via www.mySchoolBucks.com or sending cash or a check payable to JWMHS.
Graduation Requirements and Understanding High School
School Counselors and Academic Advisors have been going into English classrooms to discuss requirements and other important information with students. We encourage parents to speak with their children regarding this information. It can also be found on our website (https://jwmhs.pasco.k12.fl.us/academics-guidance-and-testing/). It is very important that everyone is on the same page regarding this information so that there are not any surprises. We also review this information during the first week of school and during course selection in the winter.
Parent Bill of Rights Acknowledgements in myStudent
If you have not logged into your Parent Portal of myStudent, we ask that you do so this week. There are consent forms that need to be completed as a result of the Parents Bill of Rights legislation. We would like to partner with you regarding making decisions for your child that are consistent with your wishes as a parent/guardian. Please help us do so by completing this important paperwork. We would encourage you to review what you have already done if you have said no to anything as there have been changes made to further explain each of the items.
Cell Phone & Earbud Policy for the 2023-2024 School Year
As a reminder, students will not be able to use cell phones and earbuds during class time. Students will be able to use them during passing and lunches. Students will be expected to put their cell phone and earbuds in cell phone storage areas in the classroom. Students will not be able to take phones to the restroom during instructional time. Please make sure that you review this policy with your child so that everyone understands the expectations of students. Healthy Student Forms and the Clinic
We sent home the Healthy Student Form. This will allow your child to receive Tylenol or Ibubrofin in the Clinic. Please make sure that you complete this form if you would like for the Clinic, School Nurse, and Clinic Assistant to help in these matters.
Pick Up and Drop Off Continued
As a reminder, all students should be dropped off and picked up in the Red Car Loop. No one should be dropped off or picked up anywhere else on campus. Children should also not be going into the parking lot to cross traffic and enter a car or exit a car. Students should wait on the sidewalk for parents to drive around. We have rules in place to keep children safe and to avoid accidents. Students and parents, please follow and support our rules.
