Dear Mustangs,

I hope that you all fared well during Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts are with those who still do not have power or who have had flooding in their homes.

We are going to still have the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 28th from 6PM to 10PM.  My administrative team and plant manager have spent the day confirming that the school, faculty, and staff are safe. We are very fortunate at JWMHS that we did not have a lot of damage. Thank you to our awesome custodial staff for always maintaining our school each day and making sure that everything is organized and secure, especially before a hurricane. And thank you to the amazing faculty and staff who have made sure that we are prepared to come back to school ready to learn on Monday. Again, we are very fortunate to work and be at JWMHS.  I also want to thank Mrs. Besack and Student Council for making sure that our Homecoming Dance is ready to roll on Saturday night!

I know that there are students and parent who are concerned that they have not been able to purchase a ticket for a variety of reasons, including not having a Dance/Activity number or not having a Non-JWMHS Guest approved. I am resending the invitation in myLearning to all students who do not have a Dance/Activity number so that parents/guardians can take the online course today or tomorrow. Please accept the invitation in myLearning and click on the LOGO to begin the course. We will work with all of you so that everyone can have a much needed night of fun after a stressful event like a hurricane. Please take a deep breath. It will all be ok.

I am currently going through my email and will be processing Dance/Activity numbers throughout the day. We will be adding the option to buy a Homecoming Dance ticket to your account as soon as your Dance/Activity number has been added to myStudent. I will NOT be individually emailing you your Dance/Activity number. You will need to look for it on the Demographics page in myStudent.

I will also be reviewing Non-JWMHS Guest Requests. Please consider your Non-JWMHS guest approved unless you hear from me personally via phone and email. This should make it so that you can prepare accordingly to go to the dance with your guest.

In terms of payment, we are leaving the online option for payment open through 6PM Saturday evening. This will mean that you can pay $35 online through the beginning of the Homecoming Dance tomorrow or $40 cash at the door tomorrow. Because schools and the District Office have been closed we were not able to secure a change fund so we cannot keep the cash price at $35 as we will not be able to make change. So, this means that if you want to pay $35 that you need to pay for it via Rycor. If you intend to pay cash, you need to bring exactly $40. Again, we will not be able to make change.

When students arrive at the Homecoming Dance tomorrow, please make sure that they bring their JWMHS Student Behavior Agreements. I have attached this form to the email. I will also accept Non-JWMHS Guest Request Forms at the door (which we typically do not do) and have attached the form to this email as long as the Non-JWMHS Guest is brings his/her photo ID and is not in middle school or is 20 or younger. I will NOT APPROVE a Non-JWMHS Guest that does not have a photo ID, so please do not ask.

Please make sure that all students who have picked up their wristbands bring them to the Homecoming Dance, as well as a photo ID. Please be in dress code. Please make sure that you follow our behavior expectations especially as it relates to the use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and vapes. Parents and guardians, please speak with your children about making good decisions.

Our Homecoming Game will be held on Monday, September 30th at 7PM. Please note the time change as it will begin 30 minutes earlier. Homecoming Court festivities will begin at 6:20PM. Homecoming Court members should arrive at the stadium at 6PM and report to the track.

This should answer all of the questions that you may have about the Homecoming Dance and Game, at least I hope it does. Please know that I also have a family and home that I am having to deal with after the hurricane so I will be going through all of this as quickly as possible. Again, we will work with everyone as long as you follow our expectations and rules. Take a deep breath. It will all work out.

Everyone stay dry and stay safe! We can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

Go Mustangs!
