MustangU Orientation Day Information for the Class of 2028

Welcome to Mustang Nation! We are excited to have the Class of 2028 join the great tradition of JW Mitchell High School!

THURSDAY – AUGUST 1ST

AGENDA FOR THE DAY – Students will arrive at 8AM and be at JWMHS until 1PM. This is a half-day activity.  

* ARRIVAL and CHECK-IN

  • Students will begin their day at 8AM by checking in at the JWMHS Cafeteria.

* ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

  • Students will be in different activities from 8AM until 1PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

* PARENT/GUARDIAN MEETING at 8:15AM in the Gymnasium

  • Also, parents/guardians should plan on joining us at 8:15AM in the Gymnasium a for a Parent/Guardian Meeting.
  • This meeting will include important information about the Class of 2028 and being successful in high school.
  • We will not be holding the in-person Parent/Guardian Dance Meeting this year. Please see information below.
  • Later in the day, Parents/Guardians will join their children at 1PM for Schedule Distribution.

* SCHEDULE DISTRIBUTION, PAY FEES, PURCHASE LOCKERS, MUSTANG GEAR, and YEARBOOKS at 1PM in the GYMNASIUM

  • At 1PM students and parents/guardians will be able to tour campus, as well as find out about what more JWMHS has to offer! Assistance will be available to purchase a yearbook, pay fees, and rent a locker.
  • You can pay fees in advance! Pay student fees here!
  • Please pay any fees that you may have prior to MustangU Orientation as it will make the afternoon go faster for you. You can also look at your schedule as soon as you complete required paperwork and pay any fees.
  • We will have Mustang Gear available for sale during this time as well, including Beat the Knights Shirts, Stang Gang Shirts, and our annual Stampede Spirit Shirt! You can purchase each of these for cash only for $15 each in the gymnasium!

* PARENT/GUARDIAN DANCE MEETING

  • We will not be holding an in-person Parent/Guardian Dance Meeting this year.
  • The online version will be available after August 15th in students’ myLearning accounts.
  • If you have already participated in the Parent/Guardian Dance Meeting for another/former student, please fill out the form below so that we can assign your child a unique dance number. mySTUDENT PARENT/STUDENT PORTAL

  • Please make sure that your portal is active and that you know your password and login information. If you need assistance logging in, please contact the District Office at mypascohelp@pasco.k12.fl.us.
  • The first time you login this year, you will need to complete different forms and make sure any updates are completed. Click here for that information: https://jwmhs.pasco.k12.fl.us/registration/.
  • You are able to look at your schedule for the 2024-2025 school year by the day before MustangU Orientation (July 31st).
  • Please pay any fees that you may have prior to MustangU Orientation as it will make the afternoon go faster for you.
  • If students ride the bus and the bus pass area is blank, you have to call transportation and request the bus pass as we are not able to do so.

STUDENT SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUEST

  • Students can request a schedule change using the following form: JWMHS Schedule Change Request
  • As a reminder, we base our schedule on the choices made by students in the Spring and we are very tight in terms of numbers of students this year.
  • Lunches cannot be changed as they are tied to a class and its location on campus this year and not an individual period like they have been in the past.
  • Please know that these are requests and that we will do our best to honor the request. If it cannot be honored, please know that asking again is not going to change the outcome.

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

  • This is not an exhaustive list of supplies as teachers will have more specific lists. This will allow for you to begin to purchase items that will be used throughout the year.
