Here are the highlights from the JWMHS Weekly School Call for the Week of September 14th!

As we continue through the year, we kindly ask for your continued attention to a few important reminders:

  • Student Fees: Please take a moment to pay student fees in Rycor.  This will allow us to place orders for classroom supplies and plan for special events on campus.
  • Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up:Please use the designated areas for drop-off and pick-up. For safety reasons, please follow directions from staff members to help keep traffic flowing smoothly.
  • Punctuality Matters:Encourage your child to arrive on time to class each day.
  • Dress Code & Wireless Devices:Students should wear school-appropriate clothing and stow their headphones, earbuds, smartwatches and phones when they enter the building.

Bike Riders and Arrival to Campus – Update of Policy and Procedure

Bike riders will need to walk their bikes while on campus or crowded areas. Bikes will be stored at the bike racks near the red building. Please make sure that you are locking your bikes and using the bike racks provided.

Please also know that if your E-Bike does not have pedals it is considered a motorcycle and must follow the expectation of Florida Statute. Please review the attached flyer to the email and the flyer posted on our website for more information.

Save the Date! – Classes of 2027, 2028, 2029 Next Steps for College Planning Night – Monday, September 22nd at 6:30PM in the Cafeteria

 Please make plans to attend the Next Steps for College Planning Night that we will hold on Monday, September 22nd at 6:30PM in the Cafeteria with Mrs. Chamberlin. This is a great way to learn all that you need to know in order to successfully prepare to be ready and apply for college!

 PSAT for The Classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029

PSAT 9th 11th and 12th students can sign up to take the PSAT the week of October 7th. Pay on rycor to register. All 10th students are registered and take the PSAT for FREE on October 8th .

 Purchase Your Yearbook Now

Buy your 2026 Stampede yearbook on Rycor/School Pay before January 1st, when the price goes up. Yearbooks make a great gift for students! Yearbook presale ends January 15th.

 All-Sports Student Passes

If you purchased an All-Sports Student Pass before August 13th, they have been distributed. Anyone who did not pick up their shirt that is part of it can see Mr. Burdick at Student Services on their way to lunches. All-Sports Student Passes are still on sale on Rycor for $75 and these will allow entry into ALL HOME regular season games for the entire year!

Important Information for SENIORS (Class of 2026)

Order Your Cap & Gown and Diploma by September 19th!

It’s time to order the senior cap & gown and designate how you want your name listed on your high school diploma.  Please complete the link below by September 19th so we can start the ordering process.

Students, please have a conversation with your parents/guardians prior to completing the form.  Know that if multiple forms are submitted for a student, the latest form will be the one that will be used.  A confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed on the form to confirm submission.  Please type your name very carefully-exactly as you want it on the diploma.  Any misspellings are not guaranteed to be caught and will require a $20 reprint fee.

Pay Your Graduation Fees Now

The fee for these items is part of your $100 Graduation Fees.  Please make sure to pay your fees via Rycor, if you haven’t already done so.  Students will not be allowed to pick up their cap & gown until Graduation Fees have been paid.  As a reminder, students are expected to attend two days of graduation practice on Tuesday, May 26th, and Wednesday, May 27th.  Caps & gowns will be distributed on the second day of graduation practice (Wednesday, May 27th).

Participating in Graduation Changes

As a reminder, due to a change in Florida State Statutes, only students who have met all graduation requirements (all coursework credits, 2.0 unweighted GPA, and all required tests/EOCs) will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony on June 6th.  There no longer is a Certificate of Completion that will be awarded. Please make sure that students are on track to meet all of their requirements prior to the end of the school year.  There are no exceptions to this policy.

Graduation Requirement Reviews with Counselors

Counselors will be going into classrooms in the coming weeks and will give each student a graduation plan to show their progress.  After that time, if you still have questions, please feel free to reach out to your Senior counselor (Ms. Quigley or Ms. Forte) or  your Senior Assistant Principal, Mrs. Earnheart.  Any questions regarding graduation (ceremony, diploma, cap & gown, etc.) please reach out to Mrs. Cortier.

College Application and Common App Help with Mrs. Chamberlin

Common application help sessions are continuing during lunches in the CRC for the month of September. Extended after school sessions will be held September 15th and September 29th from 3:00 to 4:30 pm in the media. Mrs. Chamberlin will be available to assist with the college applications and the STARS and Spark!

Seniors SAVE the date for Financial Aid Night!

Seniors SAVE the date for Financial Aid Night that will be held on Wednesday October 15th at 6:30PM in the media center. Mrs. Chamberlin and the Financial Aid Reps from PHSC will present on the FAFSA, Bright Futures and Scholarships!

Attendance Matters

As a reminder, attendance and punctuality matter. Please makes sure that you are on time to school and to classes. That might mean leaving a little earlier than normal so that you are in your classes and ready to learn as soon as the bell rings! The District Office sent out information regarding our new attendance procedures and how to report absences. Please make sure that you read that communication as you must have a myStudent Parent Portal in order to report absences. We have also included an attachment to the email that you receive each week regarding this.

Of note, if you have an eSchool placeholder, on campus or off campus, please sign up for your classes as soon as possible. Directions can be found on our website.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications & Breakfast Serving Times!

All students will NOT receive free breakfast and lunch this year! If you need to apply for free and reduced lunch, please make sure that you visit our website to do so: https://connectplus.pasco.k12.fl.us/do/fns/freereduced/. Breakfast will be served each morning until 8:20AM when the warning bell will sound. If you need to put money on your lunch account, you can do so at this time via www.mySchoolBucks.com or sending cash or a check payable to JWMHS.

Please Keep Campus Clean – Throw Away Your Trash

Any drink containers or food wrappers need to be disposed of in our commons area garbage cans and not classroom garbage cans or recycle bins. Please take pride in your school and keep it clean!

Reminders and Announcements

Arriving to Campus & Class on Time

Our campus will open at 7:50AM each day. Only specific gates will be unlocked. Please watch our video addressing this here: (https://tinyurl.com/JWMHSCarLoop).

Bus Riders

Bus riders will need to enter their lunch number or scan their digital transportation badge to enter and exit the buses. When they arrive to campus, bus riders will need to safely walk on campus sidewalks when walk to and from the bus loop. Do not cut through the parking lots, this is unsafe.

Driving to School – Please Follow the Rules and Be Patient!

As you come to school, please follow the speed limit and the signs in the parking lot as to the direction of the traffic flow and where to drop off and pick up students. Again, please watch our video highlighting the traffic flow that you should follow. (https://tinyurl.com/JWMHSCarLoop)

Parking on Campus

All parking spots are assigned to staff or students. Please park in your assigned parking spot only. You can apply to park by following the parking procedures listed on our website. Only juniors and seniors are allowed to park on campus. Students that have been approved to park on campus can view their parking spot numbers in My Student. Student Parking passes will be passed out during all lunch periods during the first week of school. All student drivers must pick up their parking pass and display the pass in their vehicle.

Parents, if you come to campus, please park in a marked VISITOR spot or along a curb as all spots are assigned and reserved.

Arrival to Campus

Please arrive in your classes on time each day, as being on time is important now and in the future. If a student arrives after 8:30AM, he or she must go to Student Services and check in there as the gates will close and should remain closed for security. Do not prop open gates or put items in gates so that the gates remain open. If you arrive to campus on time, you should not need to worry about having to use these gates. If you arrive late to campus, please do not ask someone to come and open the gate. Please follow our expectations and report to Student Services. Violations of these expectations will result in disciplinary action.

Student Athletes and Paperwork

Any student who wants to play a sport must complete all of their paperwork on www.AthleticClearance.com prior to tryouts. All of this information can be found on the Mitchell website under Athletics and then Forms. Athletic fees must be paid online one week after you are on the team. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Burdick via email at dburdick@pasco.k12.fl.us.

Required Paperwork to Complete

Please complete online emergency card and parent consent on the parent portal. This is a vital piece of information for us to have in case of emergency.
