Here are the Highlights from the Weekly School Messenger Call for 10th, 11th, & 12th Graders for the Week of August 9th!
I hope that you have had a great summer and that you are ready to start school. I also hope that you are healthy and happy!
We wanted to let you know that parents can now login and sign off on the notices that we have you read each year as well as complete your Emergency Card electronically!
This week we will be putting out information regarding our August 19th Orientation Day. For our returning Mustangs, we will be providing information this week on how we will have this orientation virtually. Not only will this make it so that we have fewer people on campus, but you will not have lines to stand in! WooHoo! Everything should take about 20-30 minutes all from the comfort of your home. On this day you will be able to pay fees, see your schedule, and download a welcoming message from your teachers, principal, assistant principal, and school counselor, as well as download the syllabus and supply list for individual teachers.
On August 19th we will have time set up for all of our 9th graders and new students to JWMHS to come to campus and find their classrooms and see the campus. Look for this information on our website this week!
Have a great evening! And welcome back to Mustang Nation!
Go Mustangs!

Highlights from the Distance Learning Reminder Call for March 30th
Hello Mustangs. This is Ms. Schultz with an important reminder. Tomorrow, March 31st kicks off our Distance Learning. Please make sure that your student logs in to myLearning to access their classes titled Distance Learning. We will be starting with core subjects this week with electives starting no later than next Monday. There is no specific school time each day. Our distance learning plan is flexible so students will have assignments each day with due dates each week. This allows the schedule to be flexible with family plans. Don’t forget that our teachers are still available to help our students. This is a great time for students to advocate for themselves and contact their teachers for assistance. All students have a district email in myPascoconnect to communicate with their teachers and can also post questions on the course discussion boards in myLearning. If parents need to contact teachers, teacher emails can still be found in myStudent and we will be posting contact information on our school website.
We will be taking attendance as you login to your courses. Please make sure that you are logging in and completing your assignments.
We distributed almost 200 devices today. If you are still in need of a device, please go to our website and fill out the “Mustang Device Registration Form” located at the top of the website to be placed on the waiting list. We will be closing this form on Tuesday at 10AM. We will contact you via email or phone to let you know when you can come pick up the device.

We know that people may want to get things from their lockers and as soon as we know more information, we will let people know. As for now, our campus is closed.
Please do not come to campus during the time as our custodial team is working hard to clean the school. We are still answering phones and emails, so please contact us virtually. Voice mails will be checked multiple times throughout the day and someone will respond to your message within 24 hours. Our teachers look forward to working with our students again and we can’t wait to see our Mustangs rise to the challenge.

Highlights from the Weekly School Messenger call for the Week of February 9
This week students will begin to input their courses for next year. If you have not yet turned in your course card to your English teacher, please do so on Monday!
Congratulations to Color Guards for earning second place in their events this weekend!
Congratulations to Boys Soccer on their District Championship! They will host the Regional Quarterfinal Wednesday night at 7PM at the stadium! Come out and support your Mustangs! Best wishes to our teams who are in Districts and Regionals this week!
Parents, I would ask that you please speak with your children about following our rules. These issues are not an isolated issues, and many of our students are choosing to ignore the rules. As a result, disciplinary consequences have been given out to students. We are concerned about the safety of each of our students.
Students should not be in the parking lots, commons areas, and bathrooms during the day and especially during lunches. Students need to attend RANCH each day. Students need to stay in the cafeteria area throughout the entire lunch period in which they are assigned. Roaming the hallways, sitting in cars, and going into commons area bathrooms is not allowed. Also, students need to pick up their own trash after they are finished eating. This is not an isolated issue for only a few students as this has continued to be a problem since we returned from the Winter Holiday. Sitting in the patio and having it open is a privilege. For this week, all students will eat inside of the cafeteria and the patio and outside areas will be closed. There are plenty of seats in each lunch for all students to sit inside. I hope that this is a reminder to all students that you need to be in the appropriate area and that you need to clean up after yourselves.
Students, you must have a parking space to park on campus. You cannot park in a space that has NOT been assigned to you. Even the grassy lot requires a parking tag. If you do not have a spot, you need to get on the waiting list by emailing Mrs. Cortier and following her instructions. Also, please know that the owners of the old SweetBay plaza south of campus are towing cars and that you are subject to being towed at your own expense if you park there illegally.
The Art Club will be collecting animal supplies for the SPCA beginning this week! Please bring in items to help their cause! There will be boxes throughout campus for students to donate items.
If you would like to donate funds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support Katryna Adamski, we will have donation jars throughout the school beginning on Friday to collect money!
Finally, if you need resources regarding dealing with loss and tragedy, please visit our website and click on the link regarding Support Resources for Dealing with Loss and Tragedy. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please contact the school immediately so that we can help.
Students, please remember that #MustangsRiseAbove and make good choices about alcohol, drugs, and vaping! THINK before you POST. Remember that what has been posted cannot be unposted. Also, just be nice. It really is that simple.

We are currently in cold & flu season. Symptoms of the flu may include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, headaches and fatigue. If your student becomes sick with flu-like symptoms, please contact your health care provider as soon as possible. Flu prevention steps include frequent handwashing, staying away from people who are sick and coughing or sneezing into your elbow to avoid contaminating your hands and the things you touch.
The best way to keep yourself and your family safe and healthy during flu season is to:
- get the flu vaccine
- contact your health care provider if you or your student are experiencing flu-like symptoms
- keep sick family members home and
- follow your physician’s guidance on treatment.
With everyone’s help, we may avoid a flu outbreak at Mitchell High School.

We do not allow food deliveries to campus that include outside food. Please do not deliver or have delivered food per our School Board policy.
During Homeroom RANCH you received important paperwork, including the EMERGENCY CARD and HEALTHY STUDENT FORM. The Healthy Student form is for those who would like to receive over the counter medication such as cough drops and Tylenol from our clinic during the school day. If you haven’t turned these in, please do so to your RANCH teacher.
Students who have a parking spot need to park in their designated spots. We will begin enforcing parking this week. If you do not have a parking spot, you cannot drive to school. Please do not park in other peoples’ spots. Should you choose to break the rules, there will be disciplinary consequences.
Students, please follow our Dress Code. It is on our website and we reviewed it in RANCH last week. If you do not follow the Dress Code, you will have to change your clothes. Do not wear jackets or hoodies to cover up a dress code violation.

Here are the highlights from the Welcome Back School Messenger Call for the week of August 11th.
We are so excited about this school year! Welcome back to Mitchell High School! #Excellence is the foundation of #MustangNation and at Mitchell High School, #ExcellenceAwaits! We are looking forward to each of you doing your best each and every day to contribute!
Tomorrow is the first day of school, and we invite you to review our Twitter feed and Facebook page, as well as the website for our bell schedule. School starts at 8:29AM and will end at 2:56PM each day. Please dress your best and in dress code to start off the year on the right hoof!
As you come to school tomorrow, please follow the speed limit and the signs in the parking lot as to the direction of the traffic flow. For parents and other adults coming to campus we ask that you are patient as you come to school today. It will be busy! Seniors who have painted their spots need to park in their spots. If you have applied and paid for a spot, please park in a non-painted spot. You must pick up your parking tag in the cafeteria on Monday and Tuesday.
If students do not have a first period class because they have an off-campus placeholder, students should still report to school at the beginning of the day on 8/12, as we will be providing information and paperwork in RANCH. During Period 1 students will need a place to sit until Period 2 begins and they can do so in the Cafeteria. This will also be the same for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
When entering campus, you will find that each of your names can be found posted. These lists are on all of the building commons area windows, as well as in student services in the main office. Next to your name is a classroom number and teacher name which is your Homeroom RANCH class where your correct schedule will be. DO NOT use the schedule from Orientation Day, as we have made changes to balance classes and correct schedules. You will NOT be able to go back to that schedule, but will need to use the schedule provided Monday morning. Should there be an issue with your schedule, we will be reviewing requests and calling students beginning Thursday. For those who have requested to see their school counselors, for the first two weeks of school we ask that you are patient as we register new students and systematically review schedule issues and change requests. We anticipate that we will be able to serve everyone faster this way. Again, please be patient.
Of note, if you have an eSchool class, on campus or off campus, please sign up for your classes as soon as possible.
During Homeroom RANCH you will receive important paperwork that you need to return by Tuesday. This includes the EMERGENCY CARD and HEALTHY STUDENT FORM. Even if you believe you have completed this information, we ask that you complete it again. The Healthy Student form is for those who would like to receive over the counter medication such as cough drops and Tylenol from our clinic during the school day.
We have also included a number of informational flyers, including ways to connect with us, our bell schedule, and yearbook and picture information. Please review this information as it will answer many of the questions that you may have as we begin the year.
If you want to pay school fees, we would invite you to go to our bookkeeper’s office in the Main Office or pay online.
Breakfast will be served each morning until 8:25AM when the warning bell will sound. If you need to put money on your lunch account, you can do so at this time. Please arrive in your classes on time each day, as being on time is important now and in the future.
Any drink containers or food wrappers need to be disposed of in our commons area garbage cans and not classroom garbage cans. Please take pride in your school and keep it clean!
We have many more exciting things going on throughout this year. Best of luck to all of our fall teams as they begin their seasons, and our Marching Mustangs who will be there to drum up Mustang Spirit with our Stang Gang!
To celebrate the first day of school, head on over to Bahama Bucks on Monday for the Back to School Bash!

Here are the highlights from the Weekly School Messenger for the Week of February 26th.
This week we reviewed safety procedures with the entire faculty, staff, and student body. All classroom doors will be locked throughout the day. All exterior doors will be locked throughout the day. Please do not dilly-dally during passing periods and get to class on time. We will not allow students out of class the first ten minutes of class or the last ten minutes of class. Finally, we want to remind parents and guests to come into the school to receive a pass to walk about campus and to check in or check out students. All faculty and staff will have their ID badges on and the pass we give to any guests will identify you as such. This, of course, is not all that we will be doing to secure campus, but these are the procedures that will have significance to students and families.
Please do not deliver food to students or have a service deliver it to students. It will be confiscated and given to the student at the end of the day. We had an incident this week wherein a family put a delivery in a bag in order to hide it and this is unacceptable. Please follow our rules.
Yearbooks will be on sale during all lunches outside the gym from February 26 through March 2. This is the FINAL PRESALE of the school year and the LAST CHANCE to guarantee your copy of the award winning yearbook. The price is $80 cash or check to JWMHS. You may also purchase with a credit card online. We sold out of yearbooks last year and had to turn people away. Buy yours before time is up!
State testing begins this week and will continue through May. This week, students will be given their test tickets which tell them the exact date, time, and location of all of their tests this Spring. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bell.

These classes teach students how to research and how to think critically, skills used in other classes, as well is in college and the workforce. Please see Mrs. Seletos in Room 724 or Mrs. Orrego in Room 726 for more information.

Highlights from the Weekly School Messenger for the Week of February 19th
JWMHS is open tomorrow. Please come to school as we DO NOT have off on Monday.
I want to remind everyone that at JWMHS safety is of paramount importance to me and all of our faculty and staff. We have procedures and guidelines in place so that students are safe. I ask that you talk with your children about following our rules and procedures, from signing out with permission to being to class on time to not skipping and wandering the halls. In the event of any emergency, we have procedures and guidelines that we follow to keep people safe. We practice these frequently. I ask that you tell your children to take them seriously. If you come to school for some reason and happen to be involved in a drill, I ask that you take it seriously. I also ask that you follow our guidelines and procedures. I hope that we never experience anything even remotely close to what happened this past week. Following procedures will keep as many safe in all circumstances as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
The Friday during RANCH, we will be reviewing safety and other policies and procedures with all students, faculty and staff. Please be in your RANCH class on time and ready to listen.

Highlights from the Weekly School Messenger for the Week of February 12th
This School Connects has a lot of procedural reminders as we all can use a refresher on some of the rules of our campus.
Please review the Dress Code. It is warming up again and I want to make everyone aware that off the shoulder shirts are not allowed. Remember the fingertip rule when picking out shorts, skirts, and dresses. Hats are not allowed inside or outside of buildings. Of course, these are not the only violations of the Dress Code, just ones that we have been seeing lately.
We have been having a lot of deliveries of food from restaurants, pizza places, and fast food places to our campus via Uber Eats, families, and other delivery services. Due to Federal Food and Nutrition regulations, JWMHS is a closed campus. This means that students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch and these deliveries are not allowed. Please DO NOT order or have food delivered to campus as it will be confiscated until the end of the school day.
We would also like to remind students and parents that students cannot carry any kind of medication on campus, including over the counter medicine. It is a violation of the Code of Conduct. Please take all medication to our School Clinic.
For our juniors and seniors who want to attend prom be in school and do not receive referrals for skipping, leaving campus without permission, or any Level 3 referrals, including tobacco and vaping violations. We will be looking at those on Loss of Privilege for attendance and off-track grades. If you are a sophomore or freshmen who is a guest of a junior or senior, these rules will also apply.
As a further reminder, vaping is not allowed on campus. When you vape on campus, have vape pens or other types of vapes, refills, and juice, you are violating the Code of Conduct and it is a Level 3 offense. You will have the vape and all of the accessories confiscated, receive school consequences, including OSS, and a tobacco citation from the School Resource Officer.
