Welcome to J.W. Mitchell’s Academy for the Medical Arts!
The Academy was started in 2008 with the hopes of providing the students with many wonderful medical opportunities.
To enter our medical academy, an application is not required but students must maintain the following requirements:
- Students must be in good academic standing with a GPA above 2.0.
- The student must plan to take all required courses during the 3 years in the medical academy.
- Students are required to attend Medical Academy meetings and follow the expectations of and guidelines including outside of school activities and required community service events.
- During their time in high school, enrolled students must complete 100 hours of community service.
- Students enrolled in the Medical Academy must maintain membership in HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America), attend the monthly meetings and participate in 2 HOSA activities per semester.
- Students should join if they plan to work in or are exploring careers in the health care field.
- Designated attire will be required (club shirts, scrubs, etc) on specific days as decided by the instructors.
- Students must maintain personal conduct in a professional, courteous and respectful manner in courses and during all clinical experiences.
- Students may not earn multiple referrals and can be excluded from the academy as a result of recurring intances of misconduct
