Here are the highlights from the weekly School Messenger Call.
I hope that everyone had a restful break and spent time with family and friends.
The campus will be closed until Monday, January 7thexcept for scheduled practices and games. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 8th!
On Tuesday, we will have the Crisis Team on campus to assist students, faculty, and staff as we mourn the loss of sophomore, Ruhan Alam, who passed away over the weekend. We do not typically like to share information of this nature on a School Messenger call; however, because our community has been affected in many ways because of Ruhan’s life and passing, I wanted to make sure that students and parents know that we will have people on campus and we encourage students to utilize these services if needed. On Tuesday, we will begin the day in RANCH where students will get their second semester schedules and we will provide more instruction regarding when and where the Crisis Team will meet.
As we move forward, the faculty and staff of JWMHS want you to know how much we care about each of you and want what is best for you. Please remember this as we begin the semester. Please follow the rules by being in dress code, not leaving campus without permission for lunch or any reason, and only parking on campus if you have a spot. Our rules are put in place to keep you safe and focused on school.
We want to congratulate the Boys Soccer team on their win this weekend at the Tampa Bay Invitational, as well as the Boys Basketball team for their win over Gulf HS over the break. Best wishes to Wrestling at Districts this week.
We invite you to attend AP Scholar Information Night this Wednesday, January 9th, from 6:30PM to 8PM in the JWMHS Gym. There will be a short presentation in the Cafeteria at 6:30PM for all students who are new to AP. Come see what AP courses we offer and find out more about what it takes to be a JWMHS AP Scholar.
Report Cards will be available on January 15thin myStudent.
We also want you to save the date for our upcoming ParentU that will address course selection for the next school year. It will be held on January 24that 6PM and will be for all grade levels.
We will also have the paperwork for our annual Winter Ball available this week. The Winter Ball is held as a fundraiser for local charities in the area. Tickets are $20 each and the dance will be held the first weekend in February.
Parents, I want to thank you for partnering with us as we begin the second semester and prepare for the next school year. Attending meetings, such as AP Scholar Night and ParentU, and speaking with your students about courses for next year is extremely important. I also want to thank you for supporting your children during times that are challenging. It is so important that they know that they can turn to you if they have questions or concerns and that you will help guide them to making good choices.
