On August 1st, all freshman students will converge at J.W. Mitchell High School for the 8th Annual 9th Grade Summer Orientation from 8AM-3PM. During the morning, the orientation day is exclusively for the Freshman Class of 2021. A light breakfast of snack bars and juice as well as lunch will be provided.

Upon arrival, students will receive a Mustang U sling pack to carry items they will receive throughout orientation, they will meet their Class Sponsors and, they will receive a class shirt. Our sessions will focus on easing the transition from middle to high school, acclimating to the high school culture and giving you a sneak peek at your life as a high school student. You will see old friends and meet new ones. You will learn about JWMHS procedures, meet new teachers, have campus tours and learn survival tips from current Mitchell students.

During the hours of 1PM-3PM, all 9th grade students who attended the full day of orientation on August 1st will receive their schedules that afternoon. We invite parents to join their students at 1PM. Parents can then assist their student while they pick up their schedules, pay fees, purchase lockers and PE uniforms, and tour the school campus. The school nurse will also be available from 1PM-3PM to take medical information and health plans.

Students not in attendance on August 1st will receive their schedules on the first day of school.
