Academy Information – An Academy is a group of teachers and students who use a focus area to bring more relevance to their program of study by sharing a common area of career interest. Teachers in each community plan collaborative lessons and foster an awareness of career opportunities in particular clusters. Students gain a greater understanding of the educational and skill demands related to their career goals. Each learning community is designed to expose students to a variety of careers through research projects, field trips, guest speakers, career shadowing, mentoring opportunities and student developed projects. These activities will allow students to begin to target possible career interests. In addition, the Academies concentrate on meeting high standards to ensure that students will be competitive upon high school completion, whether they choose direct entry to the work force, a military career or a formal continuation of their education in a college, university or technical school.
Applications are below for the specific academies – Academy for the Medical Arts and Business Technology Academy.

Dual Enrollment – Dual enrollment provides high school students with the opportunity to take college classes and potentially earn both high school and college credit. Dual enrollment classes are offered through Pasco-Hernando Community College (PHCC). Classes can be taken at the PHCC campus and some are offered at J.W. Mitchell High School. Course offerings on the JWMHS campus are limited in terms of offerings and space. Senior students will be prioritized for classes offered on the JWMHS campus. If a student is scheduled for an off-campus Dual Enrollment class, they must leave campus during the class period in which the class is scheduled during the school day. A student must provide his/her own transportation to PHCC. There application can be found below in the application section of this webpage.
Dual Enrollment Application – This must be completed by all students who are interested in taking Dual Enrollment.
Collegiate High School – Are you a rising junior or senior interested in being a full-time college student now? Read more about CHS by clicking this link: Collegiate High School Information.

Online Pasco eSchool Classes – Students who signup for an online Pasco eSchool must signup for classes for these classes prior to the school year beginning. Please download the information on how to signup for a Pasco eSchool class from the link below.
Of note, if you take an online class that is off-campus, you must leave campus during the class period in which the class is scheduled during the school day. You cannot go to the library or a teacher’s classroom. You must have transportation to do this. There is a laboratory that is considered on-campus and might be what you choose if you cannot abide by this policy.
